WWE 2K23

WWE 2K23 builds on the successful return of the franchise and continues to push MyFACTION as the main way for players to engage with our game. We added multiplayer to MyFACTION, as well as Live Events, and touched up Proving Grounds, Weekly Towers, Faction Wars, and Challenges; all of which are aimed at different types of player personas, enabling us to create hand-crafted experiences for different players.

 

As soon as I started on WWE, I found myself re-designing the entire tutorial experience in order to more efficiently teach players our collection mechanics and help them get into the action more quickly.

 

My other core focus this year was designing & implementing content for the Proving Grounds mode within MyFACTION, where I worked with WWE Lore Experts to enhance the narrative framing of the game mode and make sure it didn't JUST feel like a "number go up" mode. Additionally, I worked on the Challenges system, which is how we drive not just our live service elements with Daily Challenges/Lifetime Challenges, but also how we reward players for ingame actions across 400+ different types of Challenges.

 

In addition, I also spearheaded various UX improvements to the Token Market, Pack Market to  ensure that players could understands the cards they are chasing. This is after all, a card collection mode so helping ease that process is important.

What I worked on

  • Revamped MyFACTION's First Time User Experience (FTUE)

    • Focsed on Challenges as the core collection system inside MyFACTION​

    • Added Intro Challenges as a way to ease the player into the different ways to play in MyFACTION

    • Shortened FTUE length & added contextual tutorial moments to reduce players feeling of being overwhelmed by a long initial FTUE.

  • Pack Market Improvements

    • Designed multi-pack opening features to improve the experience for our power users who purchase many packs at once.

    • Aligned pack opening experience to be 1 method in all cases (previously there were different experiences which could be confusing for players)

  • Challenges

    • Designed Daily, Intro & Lifetime Challenge content​

    • Designed Intro Challenges feature as part of revamped FTUE.

  • Proving Grounds

    • Worked with WWE Lore Experts to add a narrative wrapper to the Proving Grounds mode, keeping the player inside the world of WWE and increasing session duration.​

  • Cardback Sources

    • Designed Cardback source feature to help players understand the source of a card.​
